Dr Joanne Sewell MBBS MSc FRCGP
I trained at St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, London and qualified as a General Practitioner in 1993 so I have plenty of experience as a doctor. I worked for 4 years in Buckingham (North End Surgery) and 10 years in Daventry (Abbey House Medical Practice). I am now working as a locum doctor in a variety of surgeries.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners, which is the highest quality award a GP can achieve.
I developed my interest in acupuncture by attending the British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS) foundation course in 2005 and started treating NHS patients while I was working in Daventry. The popularity of the treatment grew to the point that I was running a weekly clinic.
I have gained more experience of acupuncture by attending the BMAS teaching clinic in London, the Northampton General Hospital pain clinic and a local acupuncturist. I continue to improve my knowledge and techniques by attending updating courses with the BMAS and I am working towards an MSc in Acupuncture with the University of Hertfordshire.
I have indemnity insurance with the Medical and Dentists Defence Union of Scotland (MDDUS).
